It was too mainstream for them. Some of my players seemed to think that 4th edition’s undermountain is deadlier than earlier versions, but that is totally not the case. I will be stealing encounters from this book and putting them in my own adventures for years to come.

As I mentioned, my group never wanted to play DnD. Halls of Undermountain Design: Peter added it Sep 14, AmazonGlobal Ship Orders Internationally. I don’t find this particularly useful.
Here, I thought, is what I want — a sense of mystery, intrigue, and a journey into the unknown. While the book is only 96 pages long, without the monster statistic blocks it is providing more than might at first be expected.
The authors also offer a meta-adventure which links the three adventure together, although they can be run separately as stand-alone pieces. As a DM, I wasn’t all that impressed with this book. I started worrying about not really knowing anything about Undermountain. While magic items specifically have detailed 4e stats, most monsters are not statted out, but referenced by book.
